Elaine Donaghue started her private practice in 1997. She is successful in helping people because she is experienced; her own journey has provided her with many insights into emotional and spiritual health. On a personal level, Elaine is caring and compassionate. Elaine's work with adults includes exploring childhood issues and working on changing learned behavioral patterns that impede them and their relationships today. During sessions, Elaine educates her clients to have a clear understanding of the problem, how it developed and how to make helpful and healing changes. Her work with and hope for her clients is focused on their achieving emotionally rich and rewarding lives.
Elaine has a great deal of success in helping couples using the Imago relationship model. She counsels and assists adults who are adjusting to life events and who are in relationship transition. She is a proponent of teaching effective communication skills--how to communicate clearly and how to listen and reflect what is heard. Elaine is versed in Attention Deficit Disorders in all age groups and is particularly skilled in assisting clients who are struggling with the symptoms of this disorder, despite never being diagnosed. She is experienced with the treatment of anxiety, depression and sexual abuse.
Elaine works with families, children, teens and blended families. She teaches parenting skills and other skills necessary for good communication and relationship success. With her background as a nurse, Elaine also understands how physical symptoms and disease can impact emotions and relationships.
